YOUR HORSE IS AN EMPATH.....ARE YOU?

Some of us are all too aware of the empathy we feel for the children and animals in our lives.  Many of the animals that have arrived at my farm were allowed to stay because my empathy for them overshadowed all logical reasons why it would not be a good idea to take another creature into the fold.  I have come to believe that the right animals will always find us.  I truly feel that all animals (wild or domesticated) that come into our lives always bring an opportunity for us to discover something about ourselves.  Empathy is universal and it doesn’t discriminate.  Empathy doesn’t judge, nor does it resist.  It simply provides us with a feeling or sense of knowing.  Many of us who enjoy healthy relationships with animals are already empaths.  We can feel their feelings and don't hesitate to take action on their behalf.

Someone recently asked me via the internet what qualities and values a person needs to be good leader for a horse. My response was that the important qualities of a leader are empathy and good listening skills.  Empathy is simply the capacity to place oneself in another's position. It is now my guiding force in leading horses.

In my early search for knowledge, I was already sensitive to my horses' feelings. I quickly vowed to stop taking my horses to clinicians who showed no signs of empathy in their demeanor and training methods.  I knew from the beginning that I was looking for a relationship-based method of training.  Fortunately, I happened upon Carolyn Resnick's method of natural horsemanship which helped me build a connection with horses at liberty.  I listen to my horses and they always have a voice in our training sessions.

Your horse is a natural empath.  He has the innate ability to understand and share the feelings of others.  Listen to your inner voice.  Your feelings don't lie and neither do horses.  Be honest with yourself, listen to your horse and you'll have the winning combination for sharing a True Connection.

If you are interested in learning more about connection with horses while tapping into empathy as your guide, visit one of my clinics listed below.  It's not possible to think your way into having a great connection with horses.  You must FEEL it and empathy is the key that will unlock that magical experience that you have been waiting for!

Hope you have a fabulous week,
